It’s not trying to be everything, it just scaffolds out a clean, no-nonsense auth system but is vastly simpler than using something like Devise which was always my go-to. Devise is incredibly full featured and offers things like built-in sign-up flow, account locking, email confirmations and lots of extension points. I wanted to do things like hook into Omniauth for “Login with Google”, add token auth for local testing with curl and there’s just way more guides and documentation available with Devise. Plus it was just easier for me to pick back up again, so that’s what I started with and I’m pretty happy with it.
